Overheating Problems In Xbox 360

By Nikcey Derwin

There are many video game consoles available in the market for the video game lovers. But a lot of them aren't branded. The leading video games consoles are Xbox, Playboy, PlayStation, Wii, etc . Xbox and PlayStation are the top competitors in the computer game industry. Microsoft's Xbox 360 and Sony's PlayStation two hit the market at the same time. Microsoft launched Xbox 360 in late 2005 and just before that ; Sony launched its PlayStation 2.

Difficulty with Xbox 360

even though Xbox 360 is the leading computer game console, they face the huge number of console failure. Many analyses have been done to discover the difficulty and it was found the failure is due to the overheating of the console. Due to overheating of the console, the chips in the motherboard get damaged and entire motherboard is getting failed. The reason for the internal temperature is due to inadequate air flow within the console. Absence of proper design and poor ventilation led on to failure of hardware components in the console. Microsoft launched Xbox 360 in a rush just before Xmas to get more sales. This is the real reason for the failure in the design.

The X clamp situated in the motherboard is the main problem. These X clamps hold the heat sinks to drop the heat and cool down the processors. But due to wrong arrangement of the X clamps, the heat sinks fail to work. Xbox have the special feature to indicate the status of the console, when it works well or when it is getting into difficulty. The 4 LED's situated round the power ring area will indicate the standing of the console. Removing the X clamps will solve the red light problem. The overheating error will be indicated by the red lights. This is often known as Red Ring of Death or RRoD errors. This blunder causes the console to hang up and the game freezes at the play. The red lights also indicate differing types of errors according to the number of red lights which flashes in the power ring area.

Solution

You can correct the console on your own, without spending much money. All you need to do is remove the XClamps of the motherboard so that more atmospheric air flows in to the console from the base of the console. This is very easy to do and it can be done in simply an hour with the help of normal household tools like screwdrivers.

Microsoft has designed Xbox with its own hardware components and with its own codes running on chips. This is the 1st creativity in the history of Microsoft for planning its own hardware, although developing gaming software is a widely known field for the Microsoft concern. Developing things for the first time does have some flaw ; because of this reason the hardware designed by the Microsoft Corporation has different sort of errors within the console and the RED LIGHT error is the commonest sort of blunder occurring with the Xbox 360 due to hardware failure. - 29852
