Should You Grind Or Quest In WoW?

By Jim Evans

When people want to build up their character's skills in World of Warcraft, they can do so in a couple of different ways. These methods are grinding and questing, which will be explained in the article below.

Simply put, grinding is just traveling around in an area that is close to the same level your character is at and killing any creature you meet. These area are computer regenerated and will periodically allow items to appear for collection, as well as give you experience points which are needed to increase the level of your character.

One of the exciting benefits of grinding is the chance to acquire new good which you can then sell on Auction house, or at vendors you may find in town. It's wise before you begin grinding to purchase the largest bag you can so that you can carry more items as they fall, it's always a bummer to have something really exciting appear only to find that you will have to give something up first because the bag you have is too small to carry everything.

If you can kill higher level enemies, that will give you more experience but the downside to this is that you will be worn down faster, increasing your chances of being killed in the battle. It's also wise to watch the surroundings as you don't want other enemies to focus their malice on you before you are completely ready for them. Potions are great to have on hand to help you survive battles, and, just as in real life, you will need food and water to sustain you and keep you going from one battle to the next. Special abilities are interesting and fun as they come in very handy during a battle, but they also have cool down periods that prevent them from being used all the time; so they should be used wisely and with thought put into the overall battle plan.

Questing is the other method used to increase the level of your character. It entails going on quests that are built into the game and successfully completing them. These quests are not only enjoyable, but they also provide you with a lot of experience points. It is just as good of an idea to keep a good supply of food and water with you when you go on quests, just like you would while grinding. It may also be beneficial to go on a quest with other people and complete the quest as a group. This allows you to enjoy another element of the game, by being able to play it with other people in your community. You may have to incorporate the grinding methods explained above while you are questing, because often you either have to find items dropped by some animals or fight to collect the quest items needed.

In my experience, people enjoy questing more, and seldom rely on grinding for gaining experience points. By questing, you will be able to enjoy the game a lot more, and you are able to see a lot more of Azeroth. - 29852
