Warrior is one of the more popular classes in World of Warcraft, and for good reason. These plate wearing monsters are consistently one of the better DPS classes, boss tanks, and PvPers around. And there is something great about playing something as basic as heavily armored weaponsmaster. We'll discuss which races on the Horde side are best for various purposes, from tanking to PvP to DPS.
We'll talk about Forsaken first. They don't really bring anything special to the table as far as DPS does. For tanking, Will can occasionally be useful, but will sit unused during the vast majority of encounters. For PvP, undead used to be the best, but these days Will shares a cooldown with PvP trinkets, making them passable but nothing special.
The poster children for the Horde are up next. Orcs are good DPSers, bringing a fair bit of damage to the table with Blood Fury, and even more when wielding axes thanks to Axe Expertise. For Tanking, they are somewhat less impressive; none of their racials really helps. And for PvP, in addition to the extra damage and burst they bring, they have a 15% reduction to stuns, making them worthwhile PvPers overall.
The third race up for discussion is Tauren. Warstomp is amazing for PvP, as is the extra health Tauren get. Tauren don't really have anything to help with DPSing, but for Tanking, once again the extra health they bring to the table is great, and a Warstomp at the right time can save the day against stunnable foes.
The last Horde race that can be Warrior is of course Troll. In PvP, Da Voodoo Shuffle is a handy reduction of movement impairing effects, and Berserking can bring ridiculous burst to the table. Berserking also shines for PvE DPS Warriors, adding a significant amount of damage to the meter. For tanking, Regeneration is the only thing that really contributes, and it isn't worth much.
So, what does it all mean? Well, for PvP, Tauren is your best bet after 3.3 nerfs Undead into mediocrity. As far as DPS goes, it's a toss-up between Troll and Orc; when using Axes, Orcs are superior, otherwise Troll pulls ahead. Current itemization favors Orc. And finally, for tanking, Tauren is the only reasonable choice.
Hopefully you now know what race you want for your Horde warrior. I personally prefer Tauren, since I PvP a lot and a tank not dying means way more than a DPS doing a few dozen more damage per second. Be sure to check out my site, and good luck with your warrior! - 29852
